Mithoon was born into a Bihari family of musicians in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His grandfather, Pandit Ram Prasad Sharma, imparted music knowledge to thousands of aspirants, many of whom are now top musicians. His father, Naresh Sharma, was a leading expert in musical arrangements, having worked with almost all top composers in over two hundred movies. Mithoon’s father and his uncle, Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, formed one-half of the legendary composer duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Growing up surrounded by music, Mithoon started learning music at the age of eleven.
Debut and Early Career:
Mithoon’s journey began with recreations of songs like “Woh Lamhe” in “Zeher” and “Aadat” in “Kalyug”. His friend recommended him to director Onir, who wanted an electro-based title track for the film “Bas Ek Pal”. This led to Mithoon’s first original composition, “Bas Ek Pal”, sung by KK.
